TWIL (This Week I Learned.)

This  week I learned to triumph. Before our heavy grey January skies lifted, I witnessed humans all around me lifting each other up through quirky songs, bad jokes, and time spent together. I’m frankly wrestling with the weight of the showing up as the sherpa of this project called the Underbelly so embracing triumph and exultation feels alive.

Quote

“Quality time spent with your 15 closest friends and family will have a  direct impact on your happiness, health and longevity (and theirs too).” — Tony Crabbe, Why We’re Better Off With Fewer Friends <= Read this article, please.

Prompt

Who are your 15? How do they make you feel? What have you done to nurture them lately?

Quest

Exultation: lively joy; great gladness; rapturous delight. When was the last time you felt that with one or more of your 15? Go forth and exult this week.

POD  Poem of the day —

[Exultation is the Going] - Emily Dickinson

Exultation is the going
Of an inland soul to sea, -
Past the houses - past the headlands,
Into deep eternity -

Bred as we, among the mountains,
Can the sailor understand
The divine intoxication
Of the first league out from land?

  1. Song (Triumph.)
  2. Video. Trailer for Exultation, a piano/spoken word performance
  3. Hero: Boudica, Ancient Roman Warrior
Why?   Queen of the Iceni in Britain, she unified the Britons in 60 CE against the Romans. She ultimately lost, and perhaps committed suicide rather than be captured by the Romans. We need more examples of how to unify and lead into righteous battles. She triumphed in unifying Britons even as she lost to the Romans.
